More Information

The information presented here is intended to help you learn about us and your orthodontic treatment.  If after reviewing this web site you have any questions, we are available to answer them by e-mail, phone or in person.

OUR GOALS

Our goals are to provide our patients with the best possible orthodontic  treatment  based on  a scientifically valid diagnosis and treatment plan and to attain the best  results possible as seen in a beautiful smile, a stable and functional occlusion and an esthetic facial profile.

OUR MISSION

Our mission is to provide gentle, effective orthodontic  treatment in a friendly, caring and  supportive environment that encourages  patient and parent participation.

OUR PHILOSOPHY

The most important variable in determining the success of any orthodontic treatment is patient cooperation. With cooperative patients we can accomplish many wonderful things. With uncooperative patients, treatment results may be compromised and treatment times lengthened.  Educating our patients to understand their treatment and the importance of their part is our responsibility. Understanding and following the instructions is the patient's responsibility.

As parents often  play an important, supportive role in their child's treatment, they are allowed and encouraged to be present at any appointment. They may ask questions regarding the treatment or the instructions given to the patient  either at the appointment or later by phone. While the office can appear very busy, enough time has been allocated during your appointment to answer your questions. Please feel free to ask.

To minimize confusion, we communicate with you (parents and patients) and your dentist by letter whenever necessary. Typically a  patient will receive a  welcome letter, a copy of the letter to their dentist describing the diagnosis and treatment plan and progress letters every six months of active treatment. The progress letters are reports to the parents and the dentist about the patient's oral hygiene, elastic cooperation, appliance care and treatment time. Written instructions are  given to the patients in addition to oral instructions and demonstrations when they have their braces placed, when they begin wearing elastics and when they get retainers.

As we said before, the most important consideration in achieving the best results is patient cooperation.  One of our jobs is to find the best way to motivate each patient to contribute to the success of their treatment. If there are ways you feel we could interact more effectively with your child, please let us know. If you know you child is not or will not cooperate,  please let us know as soon as possible so we can either re-emphasize the need for cooperation or can alter our treatment to a non-compliant modality. This will maximize the benefit and minimize the time in treatment.
